How To Enable Your Mac OSX QuickLook .flv Preview

Hi guys,

I am working all the time with Flash Video files and I need a quick preview before I open Adobe Media Player or After Effects.
Unfortunately, the Finder cannot offer that yet, so I needed some help. The help came from this great website:  quicklookplugins.com

Installation

  • Download the .pkg file of the latest release.
  • Double-click on it.
  • The Installer app will walk you through the installation process.
  • To see thumbnails of video files you may need to relaunch Finder (ctrl-⌥-click on the Finder icon in the Dock and choose Relaunch) or log out and back in again.
  • You may experience high CPU and disk usage for a few minutes after installation while Spotlight re-indexes all of your “non-native” audio and video files.

That’s it, now you should be able to preview .flv files in Finder. Much better! Thanks!

P.S.: I personally stopped using FLV files since HTML5 uses video elements.
